This is a study that is based on topics. Example of topical study is a study on the subject of prosperity; a study on faith etc.

Word Study
In studying the scriptures, it is important that you have clear understanding of the words, their actual meanings and synonyms as applicable to the context of the writing.
Word study extends to the study of the Greek and Hebrew meaning of words from which the present day scriptures where translated.
